Taxi drivers, handymen, photographers, sales agents, artists at street fairs and many others, accepting payments on the go, now adopt iPhone as their credit card processing device.
Until recently it was all about the iPhone app, which enabled turning an iPhone into an online Virtual Terminal and accepting credit cards through an online merchant account. Such apps are: MerchantWARE Mobile, offered by Merchant Warehouse, mTerminal, offered by goemerchant, ProcessAway sold on iTunes, ePAYwireless offered by ePay Management and Innerfence.
It looks like technology is now turning iPhones into full swipe wireless terminals. Some companies are now offering very interesting alternatives: Square, enables a card swipe and offers an additional neat payer verification feature. PAYware Mobile by VeriFone, offers a card-reading case which ‘hugs’ the iPhone and even Mophie, until recently a known iPhone hardware provider now jumps into the credit card processing world.
These new iPhone gadgets should do much more than enable a card swipe. They should enable one to switch from an online merchant account to a retail merchant account. Using these new technologies, one should be able to move from Card Not Present (CNP) environment into the Card Present world and process credit cards in the lowest processing rates.

We read pure promotional material as spam, and can’t understand the time some of you invest in leaving this junk at our site.
If you have nothing to add, no insight, no question you wish to ask, if you by no way (even remotely) relate to a post on this blog – what gives you the right to comment?
Comment on what? Have you read the post you “comment” about?…
Dear Gidi, well put (and well put for the altered comment as well).
A quick question, now that lips can be attached to the iPhone, making it a complete CP terminal, what exactly is the difference from the rest of the wireless terminals? Should I use a wireless Nurit in my bar or should I just use iPhones?
Thanks
Sam
If you have a Nurit – stick to it…
If you’re looking for a solution to be used at your bar, by more than one person, not always you, go for the Nurit one more time.
One man operations, those who really accept credit cards on-the-go would embrace the iPhone (or similar devices) over wireless terminals due to more than one reason: it will enable them to carry less, to have the ability on hand at all times and to never miss a sale only due to not being able to accept a card… They still need to decide if they stop at software, or go all the way to hardware, and verify, when doing so, that they enjoy the benefits, this extra effort should provide.
Using iPhone as a credit card processing device is superb!
It’s secured, convenient and always available.
I heard that some providers offer Bluetooth swipe devices that turn an iPhone to a full wireless device.
Are you familiar with such? Where can I get it?
Hi Bernice and THANKS for asking!
Sure we are – Take a look at:
iPhone Credit Card Processing.
I don’t get it! How do new gadgets change a card not present environment into a card present one? Either the card is present or not…
I accept credit cards using my iPhone and I always hold the card that I charge. As I see it, gadgets or no-gadgets, the card is ALWAYS present!!!
I decided to go for the CNP. Don’t have to carry anything. It’s always on me. I never lose a sale and the difference between the two is truly insignificant.
